On April 6, 2019, the Safe Homes Coalition partnered with San Diego County Supervisor Kristin Gaspar, San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore, the Greater San Diego Association of REALTORS®, American Medical Response (AMR) and others to kickoff the Keep Kids Safe Program.
The Safe Homes Coalition Keep Kids Safe Program was established as a tool in the education of opioid abuse and safe disposal. The program includes a kick-off event that includes a precinct walk where hundreds of your volunteers will knock on thousands of doors to provide educational material, and, upon request, free pre-stamped/addressed DEA approved prescription drug mail-back envelopes to allow families to immediately remove unwanted medications from their homes.
Essential to the success of this program is you, the Keep Kids Safe Captain! As Captain, you will be charged with organizing a hands-on steering committee that will lead the charge. This committee will leverage its community connections and relationships to build a broad coalition. The committee will, with our help, need to identify and approach potential donors to support the event.
Once the committee is formed and donors commit to supporting the effort, our staff will work hand and hand with you to develop a successful campaign to help get prescription medications and opioids out of the hands of our children.
